How To Secure Your Model For
Storage / Transport / Etc... |
|
If you have been collecting 1:18
scale (or other scale) die-cast models, you might have to repack
some of the pieces from your collection for whatever reason.
It's always a good idea to make sure all of the openings are
secure to prevent parts of the model from becoming loose or broken
off. The following is one of many ways you can do so.

P.2 |
|
The most important step of securing
your 1:18 scale diecast model is to select a good material to tie
your car with. If you pick the wrong material to secure your
model with, you might put the shiny paint job at risk. In
this example, we are using soft cloth string. The soft cloth
string here can be found in most supermarkets. It's the same
cloth string as people use to tie up turkey, chicken, and etc
before cooking. Please make sure the cloth string you are
planning to use is soft and colorless (contains no chemical that
can harm the paint job). You will also need a pair of good scissors as
well.
Step 1 (Reference P.2):
-
Cut a long piece of the cloth string
(Please be generous)
-
Loop the strings around the front
part of the model. Make sure the string goes behind the
front wheels and into the wheel well
-
Tie a knot to secure the loop
-
Leave the rest of the cloth string
for later

Step 2 (Reference P.3):
-
Cut a long piece of the cloth string
(Please be generous)
-
Loop the strings around the rear
part of the model. Make sure the string goes in front of the
rear wheels and into the wheel well
-
Tie a knot to secure the loop
-
Leave the rest of the cloth string
for later. If the model has rear deck spoiler, luggage rack,
or etc, make sure the rest of the string go "under" it.
Step 3 (Reference P.4):
-
Flip the model upside down (Please
make sure you won't break anything by doing so. Also, you
might want to use a piece of soft tissue to protect the paint on
the roof).
-
Pull the left over string from the
front. Insert one end of the string under the part of the
string that looped the front of the model and tie it with the
other end of the string. Make sure the string is nicely
secured and not pulling any small part that might break off.
-
Do the same at the rear end of the
car.

|
Step 3 (Reference P.5):
-
Cut a piece of the cloth string
-
Loop the string around the middle
part of the car. Feed the string through the driver and
passenger side windows if possible. If the car you are
trying to secure has fully or partially rolled up windows, loop
the string over the roof
-
Tie the string and make sure the
string is nice and secured
Step 4 (Reference P.6):
That's all! You are done!
Now, all of the opening parts should be pretty secure for storage,
transport, or etc. As stated above, this is one of many ways
to do this. In fact, there are many ways to tie the cloth
string as well. If you wish to do it any other way than
this, please take the paint job, small parts, and etc into
consideration.
